Cards Week: 1

Well I took from the poll and the votes are in. Over the weekend I worked on a "Happy Birthday" card that can double as a "St. Paddy's Day" card by simply changing the wording.  I was trying to include more than one of the choices that were requested by my readers! hehe

What do you think?

This is a very simple card that anyone can make! Come guys, i know what you're thinking but let's think...confidence! I really think the hardest part about making handmade cards is figuring out these 4 things:

1. theme
2. color scheme
3. pattern, layout
4. embellishments

I try to incorporate all these into my cards so that each have their own depth. Here I have combined several patterns to make a quilt like collage that makes for a great background piece.  While the bow/ribbon adds depth, the green buttons serve as the simple touch needed to make the card pop with that pizzazz we know and love! I have also utilized some important techniques such as stamping and layering that pull every piece together as if it was just meant to be.

Remember to vote for next weeks card on the home page and stay tuned as the creativity blossoms right before your eyes!

Love ya bye!

  1. So far the blog seems to be a success. As you know I have adopted a "treat yourself don't cheat yourself" philosophy when it comes to this crazy adventure I call life. Consequently, I would be much obliged to feast my eyes on a well articulated blog on the wonders of my favorite salty slab of meat; BACON! No time table, no ryme or reason, just something to spread the joys of these mouth-watering morsels. Perhaps cooking your favorite dish, wrapping it in bacon, then writing what immediately comes to your mind will be an appropriate context to begin in. I can almost guarantee a spike in followers....and hunger.
